Best Foot Forward 2024
Following events on the track back in June, on the 3rd September the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Linda Leach warmly welcomed Patrons, supporters and Best Footers to the Mayoral Suite for the announcement of the outcome of the 2024 event.
President Lorraine McCarthy got proceedings off to a start by outlining what the club does and where it fits in the wider world of Rotary.
Mike Boyce, who introduced Best Foot Forward to Wolverhampton and the United Kingdom, then outlined how staging Best Foot Forward is very much a team effort between all those involved.
Richard Horrell gave an oversight of the results and outcome of the day.
- Funds were provided by 30 companies and organisations, who each donated from £300 upwards to create the “Charity Pot”.
- This year’s Charity Pot amounted to £11,700.
- Between 8am and 8pm, 590 people covered 15,352 laps, a total of over 3,800 miles.
- 590 runners and 15,352 laps were both records for the event.
- A record 30 runners qualified for the BFF 2024 Centurion Club, having exceeded 100 laps of the Stadium.
- Number of laps covered by individuals ranged from 1 to 161 laps.
- This year’s charities were the Central Youth Theatre and the Wolverhampton MS Therapy Centre. They each received a cheque for £4100 from the Mayor. The Rotary Club’s own charitable trust will receive a similar amount.
- In addition to the amount donated by Patrons, over £9000 was raised independently by charities, using the event as a means of boosting their own funds.
- Total known to be raised as a result of Best Foot Forward 2024 was £20,558.
- Since Best Foot Forward started in 2013 over £200,000 has been raised for good causes mainly in and around the City of Wolverhampton.
- Our sincere thanks go to everyone who sponsored Best Foot Forward, helped stage the event, and of course, to those who participated.
Best Foot Forward 2025 will be staged at Aldersley on Saturday 28th June 2025
